Yeom Jae-ho

Chairman Yeom earned his Ph.D. in political Science at Stanford University for his research on Japanese industrial policy for high technology. He has taught public administration at Korea University since 1990. As a visiting researcher at the Institute of Business Research of Hitotsubashi University in Japan, he conducted research on the policy making process for semiconductors and the computer industry implemented by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in Japan.

Chairman Yeom has also performed research as foreign visiting professor at University of Tsukuba in Japan, visiting professor at Griffith University in Australia and Peking University in China, adjunct professor at Renmin University in China, and Chevening Fellow at CENTRIM at the University of Brighton in the UK.

Chairman Yeom served as a member of the Korean Presidential Commission of Science of Technology Policy, a board member of the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation, and a board member of the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. He also served as President of the Korean Association of Policy Studies in 2007 and President of the Korean Association for Contemporary Japanese Studies in 2008. Until recently, he has served as Chairperson of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Korea, an Executive Committee member of Universitas 21, a Steering Committee member of Asia Pacific Rim Universities, and a board member of the Happiness Foundation.

Chairman Yeom's other international activities include founding one of Asia's most popular summer campus programs in Korea University, founding the East Asia, Nordic, Benelux University Consortium, implementing the KU-China Leadership Program, and KU-Latin America Leadership Program among others.

He has served as the 19th President of Korea University from 2015 to 2019. He is now serving as an independent director and Chairman of the Board of SK Holdings.
